Our Mission and Values

Ethos Heritage CIC’s vision is to run community-driven archaeological projects on which all participants feel both welcome and valued.

We develop and run projects in places where everyone can get involved, make a genuine, tangible contribution, and reach their full potential. At all times, we strive to deliver first class archaeological insight alongside innovative education and training.

Ethos Heritage CIC seeks to build and encourage community integration and cohesion in the areas where we work, creating safe and inspiring local archaeological projects that provide integrated and diverse activities that benefit all, from individuals to entire communities.

Exceptional Archaeology at the Heart of Our Communities

We understand the complex responsibilities of running community archaeological projects through a lens of inclusion, competence and community. These principles, along with our overriding ethos, are intentionally developed and embedded throughout all of our projects.

We strive to create safe spaces for all participants, regardless of their socioeconomic background, gender or gender identity, ethnic background, sexual orientation or any other factor.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, increasing and improving social integration, and to closing the disadvantage gap: in fact, we want to advantage the historically disadvantaged. By fostering an ‘all are welcome’ approach and encouraging equal relationships, team members and participants working with local groups can run projects founded on a common goal - to learn and develop together as one community, as we explore our shared heritage.

Ethos Heritage CIC aspires to:

  • Create safe, stimulating, community-driven archaeological projects

  • Meet archaeological best practice at all times

  • Provide high-quality archaeological training as an inherent part of our fun and exciting projects
